Drinking and painting equals...

Stripping models!  So yeah, priming and painting drunk may not be the best idea.  My proof is my Cygnar army.  I have about 30 some odd models that I am in the process of stripping and washing off.  Tons of fun.  When drunk, I screwed up in way too many ways:

-Used WAY too much primer on the models
-Primed in my garage while it was raining, so the humidity made everything fuzzy
-then sponged on rust colors, and went straight to sponging on liquid latex, without varnishing first.  This meant that the latex REALLY got a firm hold in between all the ridges of the models that the fuzziness created
-Next morning while hung over, I convinced myself I could fix it.  How?  By putting MORE paint on the models.  4 layers to be exact.  And wash.

So after wasting a few hours and a bunch of paint, I had to go out and buy Purple Power to fix it all.  Most of the models are stripped to the metal, which is nice, but I still have a few left and then I get to start all over.  Yay me.  So, lesson learned.  Maybe.  And by maybe, I mean probably not.

Cygnar Stormwall is done!

So yes, I bought one of these last weekend, and I have been slaving away at it.  I absolutely loveeeeeee the model, and I wasted no time painting it up in my Swamp theme that I am doing all of my Cygnar in.  Anyways, more pictures and words below!

What, I still have a blog? Oh, yeah....

So to get the obvious out of the way, I haven't posted in over a month.  Lots of things have been going on.  Diablo 3 came out, and my damn near 250 hours of time played between my 3 60's shows that I no longer have a life...  Also, I have been trying to close on a house, and that should finally be finished next Friday.  That means a bigger man cave, and the chance to paint my walls however I want (wife approving, of course).  I also have been frustrated with GW over their recent price changes AGAIN, but the Internet is filled with enough vitriol over that, so I won't bore you with my feelings.  On a bigger note though, I have dove head first into Warmachine and Hordes.  More info on all of this though below!

Secret Weapon bases are in!!!!

So yes, my bases arrived yesterday afternoon, and as soon as the kid went to bed last night and I had free time, I stayed up until 3am working on getting my Cygnar models based.  I have to say, these bases are easily the best I have ever worked with.  The raised edges add a whole new level of detail, and the water effect is amazing on bases.  Anyways, here are the pictures of how these came out.  I'll put out a post on how I did all of this once the rest of my models arrive in the mail next week or so.

Finally, an actual update!

Okay, so it has been a while since I have put anything up here other than links to my eBay sales and excuses, so he we go!  Right now I am finished painting my Cygnar stuff that I have, I am nearing completion on a squad and a dread for my Death Guard, I have managed to almost base coat my Pleasuredemon, and I got a new paint rack!  Check below for more info.

Update!

So I have no pictures for this week.  I don't know where the battery charger for my camera is...yeah, one of those weeks.  Here is a VERY quick update on what is going down in my laboratory!!!!

-  Working more on the Pleasuredemon.  Skin done, horns/hooves done, wings colored, shaded, need final highlights, and I started base coating the leather but got bored.

-  Necrons:  selling them.  I know, they are looking pretty good in my opinion, but I don't play them and they are a drain on time for the armies I do want to play: my Chaos and my Thousand Sons.

-  Chaos:  Working on picking out the details for on the Plaguemarines and the Dread, but most of my efforts here are in the demon.

-  Thousand Sons:  building up the motivation to paint them.  Mostly I am trying to finish the stuff that I already have on my desk to make space, but rest assured, these will get worked on.

-  Table:  I have brought the buildings that need painting inside and I am starting to prime them with a nice dark brown primer I bought.  This will be used to undercoat for the rust effect I used on my Death Guard and Warmachine models.

-  Warmachine:  I am almost done with the models, just need to airbrush the sword on one model and then do a final bit of rusting pigments before they get their third and final matte varnish.  Once I have more money, I will be getting them bases from the genius known simply as Mr. Justin over at Secret Weapon Miniatures.

So that about sums it up.  I'll try to get pictures up once I get the battery located, but until then, just picture amazing things.  Until next time...

Some WIP's!!!

So I haven't posted in a good while now, but I have been very busy since I just started school up again, and I am taking accelerated 5 week courses instead of traditional semesters since my GI Bill only covers 36 months of school, regardless how much I finish.  5 week courses means that I do as much homework in one week as most people do in 3-4 weeks.  Not fun.  However, I have managed to get some stuff done for the hobby!  The picture above is the base I made for my Necron Tomb Stalker that I have yet to even clean...but at least the base is assembled!  It's made using two different Secret Weapon Miniatures products, their Dragon Skull and a 95mm x 120mm oval base from their Desert Mesa line of bases.  As I have said before, I absolutely LOVE the products Mr. Justin puts out.  High quality and cheap prices are always a winner in my opinion.  Anyways, I am all over the place with my WIP's at the moment, so check out below!
