I haven't posted in a while, and too be honest, I don't really have any enthusiasm to post still. The 40K community, and in most regards the gaming community in general, has turned very negative and jaded over the last few years, and has been draining my motivation to participate in it.

With that being said, I am selling my Forge World Mechanicum army that I have been working on since they were first released. Below you will find pictures showing the state the models are in. It's a total of almost $1700 of models, and I am looking to try and make back only $1000 of that. This is being sold as a lot, and I only accept PayPal or Cash for anyone who happens to want to come to Colorado to buy it in person. I'm trying to avoid eBay since they will take a huge portion of the sale in fees through both eBay and PayPal.

Whenever I need to strip models of their paint, I use an engine degreaser called Purple Power. I pick it up in the automotive section at Wal-Mart, and it usually strips the paint off of my models within a few hours. I have left resin, plastic, and metal models in it for days on accident before, and no matter the amount of time it did no damage to the models. It really is the end all be all for me.

That being said, it does very little to X-Wing models.

I have soaked my Scum and Villany fleet in the stuff for two days, and a few colors come off, as do certain seemingly random parts of paint from the ships, but a large majority of the paint only sees a mild fading effect. I'm just going to go forward with the project at this point, since I don't think that anything that is still on is going to effect the final outcome much, but it's really frustrating to see two days of waiting amount to almost nothing. As I get them started, I'll be sure to post pictures.

So I follow quite a few painting blogs, and I came across this gem about a week ago from Den of Imaginations Facebook page. I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan boy, and the repaints they did on some ships for the recently added Scum and Villany faction got me excited and thinking about trying it myself. So with that in mind, I of course dove right in!

I've managed to pick up a few ships to start out, and played a demo game of X-Wing at my FLGS to provide myself with at least a limited frame of reference when researching popular builds. After the few games I tried, I absolutely love the game and feel rather secure in my purchase. I didn't really know what to do with the new ships though, since my experience was limited to the X-Wing and the TIE Fighter, so I looked for some lists to try out and came across this article on Fantasy Flights website. It seemed sound enough, so I built the lists using Army Builder and bought a few more ships to fill out my roster.

I haven't picked out a color scheme yet, but I'm thinking of using a slate grey with a bright color to contrast it, most likely a green or an orange. I've searched around on google as well, and there are a lot of pictures to reference with what everyone else has done, so I'm sure I'll figure out something.

That aside, I have been very sick and haven't really accomplished much in the scope of models or gaming. A bunch of my friends are jumping into Guild Wars 2, so I figure I'll give that a try, and my DM for D&D is finally getting back from a 2 month trip to Africa, so hopefully I'll be able to dust off my character and continue to kill some baddies with those guys. Once I get all my ships primered and base coated, I'll be sure to post some pictures up here for everyone.

So my Legion Gal Vorbak from Forge World came in, and they are a perfect example of the aesthetic that GW in a whole needs to follow for possessed Marines. Each one has some very interesting transformations, and their isn't symmetry with everything on the model. One side of the power pack is fine, while the other side may be mutated, etc. It's the little things that sets these apart from their GW counterpart. That being said though, I really wish they were a bit more poseable, which would help for those intending to buy more than one pack of the models. It will take a lot of work to make them look different if I decide to get another 5 in the future.

On the video game front, I have been hooked on the latest thing to be dropped in the DBZ franchise, Dragon Ball Xenoverse. It's available on the next gen consoles, as well as on Steam for those Master Race users (like myself, haha). The premise of the game sets it apart from all of the other DBZ games, where it starts with Trunks needing help to fix the timeline that is being changed somehow, so he uses the Dragon Balls to wish for somebody strong enough to help him fix it. That's where you, the player, come in. You get to make your very own character, picking your race and everything, and then you start out as a very weak nobody who is helping the Time Patrollers, a group of fighters who patrol through time and try to stop anyone from messing with the time line. You go through alternate timelines from the DBZ storyline, and you fight through slightly altered stories and try to get them back to their original. Aside from that main storyline, you can also play Parallel Quests that are based off of the original story, but you're fighting from a different point of view, such as Hercule's vision of how things turned out, or that of the various villains of the series. You also level up your character, raise your stats, get better gear, etc., so it has a very MMO feeling to it.

The game is very solid, with two key things keeping it from being "great" in my opinion. The first is one that they are working on fixing, and the problem is that the servers crash all the time. You can play offline if you want, and all of your progress gets loaded to the servers when you connect again, but you don't have the option outright to just play offline. You have to either disconnect your computer from the internet manually, or they have to close their servers on their end. It gets very annoying. The second problem is that the game isn't as balanced as it should be. Players who make Saiyan characters get four different versions of the Super Saiyan ability, while none of the other races get their tranformation abilities, such as Majin transforming or Freeza Race being able to switch between their forms. With Super Saiyan being such a strong ability, it puts Saiyan players leaps and bounds ahead of the others. This is something that they company behind the game says is being fixed in future DLC, but in the mean time it gets frustrating in the late game since I'm playing a Freeza Race charctarer (and yes, that's literally what they decided to name the race to which Freeza belonged).

All of that aside, I have made quite a bit of progress on Curze and Sevetar, and once I get pictures I'll post them up.

So I'm going to start this out with a blanket statement that I am not really a huge fan of the Star Trek TV shows. I watched a lot of Next Generation and Deep Space Nine in my younger years, but I honestly attribute that to being a huge Sci Fi fan and not having anything else on TV at that time, and the fact that I was living on a military base overseas and AFN only had like 2 or 3 channels back then anyways. That being said, I am actually a HUGE fan of Star Trek Online.

My brother and his friends have been playing this game for a while now, and I finally caved in and downloaded it. It's a Freemium game from Perfect World Entertainment, who has a near perfect track record of being buy to win with online games. This one isn't too different in that regard, but I like it enough that I am actually willing to over look that issue, for now at least.

You start the game by picking one of three allegiances, Federation, Klingon, or Romulan (who end up joining either the Feds or Klingons at level 10 anyways), and are quickly immersed in the two different aspects of the game: ground combat and space combat. The ground combat is really nothing exciting, running fairly decent graphics but a physics engine that feels lack luster and clunky. The space combat though is where I am invested in this game.

There has not been a huge amount of space combat games that I have liked in the last decade or so. Eve is cool and all, but I like to physically control my ship while fighting others. The Star Wars MMO has a realllllllly fun space PvP system, but I can't stand to play the game because it feels like you're getting punished severely for not giving them money. The combat and ship building systems in Star Trek Online though have cured my itch.

You unlock larger classes of ships as you level in this game, which makes sense, and you also unlock different crew and bridge officers that help you in various ways as you complete missions. You can equip what ever types of weapons you want on your ships, which all have different damage types like energy, plasma, etc, as well as each having different ranges and firing arcs. This lets you build the ships to your play style, and gives you the option to play a high risk, high reward type of gaming by putting a bunch of strong, 45 degree - 90 degree firing arc weapons on your ship and hoping nothing gets stuck behind you.

Aside from all of that, I have actually managed to get some painting done as well. Mostly just base painting and some layering with my airbrush, but check out what I have so far. These are all work in progress shots, so hopefully I'll get some finished shots up soon as well.
I am also working on some Night Lords models, probably not as a full army, but I loved the Sevetar and Curze models so much that I just had to buy them and get them painted. Only have a few colors down at the moment, but I'm loving it so far.

Yes, Woodland Scenics Latex Rubber is a God send, although it does smell fairly awful. I use it for masking things on about 3/4 of my projects, and the best part is that a jar of it lasts a LONGGGGGGGGGG time when you're using it for modeling. I slap it around wherever I want to mask, let it dry, then airbrush the hell out of everything all willy nilly. When the paint dries, I use a dental pick to get a solid grasp on the Latex, pull, and viola! It looks like I took my time when I really didn't. Currently I'm using it to mask off the base on my Konrad Curze that I picked up from Forge World, since they were so kind to sculpt him onto the wall...(would have really loved to paint him separate and pin him on, but nooooooo).

Anyways, after tonight I should have my projects base painted and then I'll try to toss some pictures up. I also downloaded Star Trek Online, since I hear so many people talking about it these days, so maybe I'll write a review of that some time in the near future as well.

A good friend of mine has been working on a RTS called Invicta. It's set in a Sci-Fi universe, and allows users to switch between RTS and First Person Shooter as they want. It still has a ways to go, but is a LONG way past where he started. Check out this video, and give him a like on youtube if you like what you see,

Other than that, I am still slogging away at my Admech army. Lots and LOTS of taping while airbrushing, which sucks, because it takes longer to tape the models than it does to paint them :(

I've been following this game on Facebook for a while now, and a few of my friends had it on their iPhones (since it launched early on the iTunes store), so I was pretty excited when I got an email yesterdat stating that it had finally launched on Android. I picked it up shortly after, and had a pretty good time playing it while laying on my couch.

In a broad comparison, it's very similar to Clash of Clans, or just about every other base defense game on the market. You start by getting a brief description of what's going on in the Galaxy, Istivaan III, etc, and then you're asked if you want to be a loyalist or a traitor marine. Pretty cool so far, right? I chose to be a traitor, and then right away Angron comes on my screen all angry like and what have you. You go through the basic tutorial, and you get the sense quickly that it requires quite a bit more strategy than other games in it's genre that I have tried. There a lot of different support features, such as orbital strikes, virus bombs, and a slew of other cool toys to play with, but the main one that stands out is an ability that lets you control your troops after they have been deployed. It may not seem like a big deal, but for those of you who have played other games in the genre, you usually just drop your dudes in and hope to God for them to do kinda what you were thinking.

Now, the game does have a micro-transaction store to it, and like every other game similar to it, you use the in game credit to speed things up instead of waiting 5 minutes for your troops to build, or 3 hours for your building to upgrade, so nothing new on that front. At the low levels, a few dollars goes a LONG way, but the cost escalates quickly.

All said and done, I'm pretty happy with where the game is, and while their are a few moments where the game bugs out on me, nothing game breaking or major has happened so I can deal with it. If I had to rate this on a 5 star system, I'd give it a solid 4 stars, but a lot of that might have to do with me being a 40K fan boy at heart.

Damn The Valleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10406335232440459737noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2264783704472060728.post-76982030690809843922015-02-18T23:02:00.002-07:002015-02-18T23:02:59.626-07:00So what have I been up to?

Wasting away in Diablo 3, as well as World of Warcraft and Heroes of the Storm. Blizzard somehow has a strangle hold on me to where I have to play all of their crack all the time (except Hearthstone, because if I wanted to buy cards nonstop to win, I'd play Magic). Season 2 in Diablo 3 has started, and every time I get ranked on the national ladders and go to bed, I'm back down several hundred spots by morning. Well played Blizzard, well played. Add to that the fact that I destroy solo level 34 Greater Rifts on my Demon Hunter, but keep getting screwed with horrible RNG on level 35 rifts, it gets really frustrating.

That aside, I have been doing a LOT with Admech, both modeling and reading. I finished the Priests of Mars series from Black Library, and it is absolutely amazing! It has quite a few different character types it follows, from the witty Rogue Trader, the obsessive Eldar Farseer, to your rarely discussed in previous books Skitarii Magos even! Space Marines, Admech, Titan Legions, it has everything! It has also fueled my need to work on my Admech army that I have been blowing money on regularly (thanks Forge World...dicks), and I'm actually waiting for paint to dry right now on some models while I type this.

Finally, my play group and I have been knocking out some campaigns with D&D 5th edition, which is MILES above where 4th edition was, but we have had to take a break while our DM spends some time in Africa... We managed to switch to Twilight Imperium to kill time on our game nights though, and that has actually been working out great. It takes a while to set up, and even longer to play, but once people start texting each other secret plans and alliances, it gets interesting.

Now, as I had mentioned previously, I have 2 auctions up on eBay for those of you looking to score some SWEET deals. The first one is my half painted and heavily converted Lamenters army that I was working on. It has LED headlights in the Razorbacks, custom shoulder pads from Shapeways, everything! With all I have been doing for my Admech though, and all the stuff that keeps coming out for them, it's impossible to focus on two large projects. Since Forge World and GW only want to make stuff for one of the two, I choose Admech.

The second listing I have is for my Fantasy Endtimes Glotkin army that I bought, Everyone at my FLGS swore up and down that they were going to play Fantasy, so I bought this army because I thought the models looked awesome. Long story short, nobody else ended up following through on that idea. So yeah, it's for sale now. I base coated the big models, but most of it is still in boxes.

Anyways, by now the paint on my models should be dry, so back to my airbrush, but keep an eye out for more posts, rants, pictures, and what not from me.

So yes, I haven't posted in a while. A lot has changed in the last two years or so. I've become burnt out on playing wargames in general, but I still collect and paint. I also play a lot of games on my computer, because I'm a nerd.

I've thought about this a lot, and what I have decided is that I am going to focus on the broader idea of gaming. Board games, video games, card games, I want to cover it all. I mean, come on, what's the point of calling this "ADHD Gaming" if I focus on only one facet of gaming?

So with that in mind, please bare with me as I get everything up to date and looking new, and hopefully get a new writer or three to help me out as well. Thanks.

- DTV

So as the title says, I'm actually not dead. I do think that it is a little ironic that I posted that my wife may kill me, and then went silent for about 8 months, but it was purely unintended irony. I had a sort of sudden falling out with the hobby, and I shifted jobs, so posting didn't seem like a priority for me.

So what brought me to man up and post again? I am falling in love with the hobby all over again. I am loving the direction that 6th Edition has taken, I love the projects that I am working on, and more of my friends and family have started up in the hobby. I am also running a Facebook page for my local gaming group, and it grew to a large enough size that I ended up switching it from a private group to an actual page so that way I could have people help me manage it. Feel free to check it out here if you're interested. While we are mostly based out of Colorado, we plan on posting relevant things to our hobby, and not just rehashed content from my blog.
These are a few models of the Lamenters that I am working on. The infantry models are finished, but the Razorback needs a lot of weathering before I accept it. All of my Razorbacks also have working headlights that I put in there, which I will get a picture of once I post another update on them.
This is a Thunderhawk that a buddy of mine bought, and I am painting it for him as a Christmas present. I did a subtle scale pattern across the armor using my airbrush and some pieces of a ball bag as a stencil. It came out really nice, and will look AWESOME once I get more detail work done on it.

Anyways, this is where I am at currently. I plan on posting more as I go, as well as bringing on some local guys to help me post as well. Keep an eye on this page to see what I'm up to, and hopefully I'll be able to post more soon. Stay classy internet!

So the new Apocalypse is soon to be upon us, and I went on a spending spree of epic proportions! For starters, I ordered the following new items:

The Apocalypse Collectors Edition
1 Khorne Lord of Skulls
1 set of the new templates
1 set of the AdMech dice, the 125 dice set
1 Vortex Template

That ran me a decent amount, but nothing I wasn't already bracing to spend anyways. However, after finally finding the apocalypse formations on the website (which may or may not have taken me longer to find than it should have...) I saw my dream of fielding an entire Space Wolf Great Company become a reality!!!

I didn't actually buy the $1000+ one-click scam from GW, but instead shopped around locally, emptied the SW selection from various FLGS (including the one I run), and begrudgingly ordered a few blisters from GW's website. All said and done, I ended up with 4 drop pods that aren't even part of the formation, 3 extra scout squads, and a Wolf Lord on Thunder Wolf for roughly $900!!! So quite a few extra models for over $100 cheaper. Yay me. Now I am off to figure out how to hide this purchase from my wife...if I don't post again in the next month, call a Life Guard for me.

So here is where the board is at. It's coming right along, with some Summer Leaves, and I have also started doing the bases to go along with it. Once the 28mm bases are down, then I just have to paint the models...yay me.

As for the rest of these pictures, these were all taken with my phone, so bare with me on the quality here.

This is my MaxMini counts as Nurgle Greater Daemon. Much better than the Forge World model, at least in my opinion, and significantly cheaper as well. This was done with Vallejo paints, Secret Weapon Miniatures washes and pigments, and an airbrush. It was honestly a pleasant model to paint.

Here is it's backside...you know you like it.

And why not an overhead view!

On to other projects, I have been working on a small Salamanders force for shits and giggles. I tried out painting the model a dark green to start, and then wrapping it with fishing net and airbrushing over it with a much brighter green to create a sort of scaled effect for them. It turned out rather nicely, so I need to get the rest up to speed with this Dread from Forge World.

Here is a close up of an arm for it, which gives you a much better idea of how the scales look. I'm pretty happy to say the least.

Anyways, I need to actually do stuff at work I guess, so I'll post again later when I have something worthwhile to talk about. Thanks for stopping by, and you stay classy internet!

Damn The Valleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10406335232440459737noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2264783704472060728.post-89382095424307532702013-06-18T18:57:00.000-06:002013-06-18T18:57:09.988-06:00I fixed the board somewhat...

So here is what the board looks like now that I fixed it. I'm happier with this than I am with how the train wreck prior came out, but still angry, haha. I added some grass clumps sporadically around, and I have some leaves from Secret Weapon Miniatures as well to add, but I need to figure out what I am going to do with those. I bought their Fallen Leaves - Fall Mix, which has a beautiful color that I REALLY wanted to use, but the board turned out much lighter than I imagined, and I'm actually rather please with the general color scheme. They have some lighter colors that I coincidentally carry in my store, so I might have to snag one or two of those and try them out.

I based this with a dark brown from Minitaire Airbrush Paint, and then I used Dark Earth, Clay Brown, and Burning Sands pigments from Secret Weapon Miniatures in successively lighter dustings. I love working with their pigments, and a project of this size gave me a LOT of practice on using the pigments.

For the trench line I based the bottom with a dark grey, followed by a dark wash, and then any dirt colored pigments settle where they may. This allowed it to get dusty and dirty in a manner that appeared random as opposed to something that would have looked too forced. Once the wash was dry, I dipped my finger in SWM's Metallic Iron pigment just enough to get some on my finger tip, and then I rubbed my finger pretty forcefully across the floor of the trench to pick out the raised edges and the nuts and bolts with a metallic tinge, since they would have been worn to a more metallic sheen through continuous use.

Anyways, this is what I am working on hobby wise, and I am also putting together an 1850 Ork list to break up the monotony of doing clean color schemes. Here is what I am in the process of building:

Wazdakka Gutsmek

10 Lootas
10 Lootas

6 Warbikers with Nob w/ Big Choppa
Burna-bomma
Burna-bomma

Battlewagon w/ Killakannon

So that's my 1850 list. Terribly exciting, I know, but I think it should play well enough. The 4+ cover saves on the bike are silly, as are the number of shots I can throw out a turn. Anyways, I need to finish my work for the day, so I'll post again soon...ish.

So I am working on a display board, and I was gonna wait until it was mostly done before posting any pictures. Mostly done came yesterday, and I got done using about $40 worth of pigments to make the dirt look real. I was sooooooo excited that I instantly wanted to Matte Varnish it. One problem: I forgot to let all the pigment sealer dry. Do yeah, this disgusting mess above is what happened afterwards. Yay me. Back to buying more pigment and starting over.

It's that time of the year again where I get drunk and sappy. I spent 8 years in the US Army, including 2 deployments. I lost a lot of good friends, so this holiday brings up a whole slew of crazy emotions. Anyways, I have actual stuff to post, but that will be during the week. Until then, here is my Platoon's video from our 2007 - 2008 deployment to Afghanistan. Thanks for bearing with me today, and remember it's not Veterans Day today, it's Memorial Day. Thank those who gave their all, and not those of us who lived.

So last night I ran a free event at my store which we called a Battle Royal. We played on a 3' x 3' Zone Mortalis board (that I have yet to paint...), and we had 5 people show up. Everyone brought 1 HQ choice, no special characters, no wargear that has the Instant Death special rule or removes models outright. We did however allow models to be instant killed by failing a save from a weapon that is double their toughness.

We used standard Zone Mortalis rules, which roughly means nothing on a base larger than 60mm, no ordnance weapons, templates gain the Shred special rule, etc. Doors were placed before any players placed their models, and we decided that there is two ways somebody can open a door: roll a 4+ while touching the door in your movement phase, where passing the roll allows you to control the door for your turn and you can continue your movement, and a failure means your movement is done for the turn, and the other way is to destroy the door. As per the Zone Mortalis rules, the doors are AV13 with 1 Hull Point.

The rules were further altered in some fun ways. You are allowed to shoot into assaults that you are not a part of, with wounds being allocated to the nearest player, and blast templates hitting any models touched. This made flamers an amazing choice to take. We also decided to have all of the players roll for turn order every round, which made it a lot harder to plan a strategy, since you didn't know who was moving in what order in the next turn.

The player who went first in the first round placed his model first. We had the first player place anywhere he wanted, and then went in turn order with each subsequent player placing his model no closer than 18" away from another model. This was not a true 18", but instead it was measured following the hallways in the fastest path between any two models.

The game lasted almost 45 minutes, since quite a few players played very defensively and waited for their fellow players to either die or lose some wounds before jumping into the fray. The winner ended up being a fully loaded Space Marine Captain in Artificer Armour, with a close second being a Necron Overlord with a bunch of shenanigans packed in. It was a very close game between those two.

Anyways, we all had a lot of fun, and we played several more games afterwards, which I actually played in since their was no prize, it was just fun. I don't play in any of my free events since it would seem shady if I were to win. I bought a bunch more Tau stuff, and once I find some fishing net, I will knock out my Salamanders models and the Tau stuff and post pictures of those as I get the airbrushing done. Until next time, stay classy internet!

Damn The Valleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10406335232440459737noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2264783704472060728.post-50267302923601150422013-04-30T20:12:00.002-06:002013-04-30T20:12:57.465-06:00Played with some Tau today...

And holy broken, haha! I ran a 1500 point list that ran roughly like the following:

Daemons w/ Tau Allies:

Herald of Nurgle
Herald of Nurgle
20x Plaguebearers
9x Nurglings
Soul Grinder w/ Mark of Nurgle

Commander Farsight
12 Fire Warriors
Riptide
Sun Shark Bomber
Broadside

So that's excluding wargear, which there wasn't much of to be honest, and I only took Farsight because I bought him for his looks before reading the codex. He is a great HQ in my opinion, but only if you're running his 7 Crisis Suit honor guard.

Anyways, a very brutal game against a 1500 point Dark Eldar Wych list. I deployed second but stole the initiative, and left my Nurglings in the middle of the board as bait. I then made a gun line with my Tau, and shot everything to hell. The game was over at the beginning of turn three, and I have to say, I feel that Tau have some real shenanigans in their codex. That Riptide is just BRUTAL. Anyways, I'll post pictures up soon, so thanks for tuning in and catch me again later this week.

So yes, I hit 50k page views this morning, and to all of you out there, thank you so much! I know I have been sporadic with my posting, but you guys keep me going!

As for what I have been up to, I recently bought a Zone Mortalis board, and it is INCREDIBLE! I'm hoping to have it painted up soon, but we'll see how long it actually takes. I also have pledged for two different Kickstarters, which are as follows:

Secret Weapon Miniatures has one going that I mentioned previously in which they are working to get games boards designed with matching bases, walls, and terrain. It is an AMAZING project they are working on, and it will help my store look even better with all the different boards we will have for people to play on. Below is a link, and if you can you should absolutely jump on top of this one. It's a great opportunity to get these before they hit stores.

Secret Weapons Miniatures Tablescapes Kickstarter

The other one I have jumped on board with has my inner child going nuts! Growing up, I was a HUGE fan of Robotech and Macross, and now I can play out my wildest childhood fantasies on the table top. Palladium Books, which previously has done great things with the Robotech RPG, is now putting out a 1/285th scale miniatures game. Fret not with the scale, as the robots are so big that the miniatures are still larger than 40k Space Marines. The Kickstarter has a lot to offer in the way of deals, so hop on this one to save yourself a lot of money in the future. Click below to check it out, and there is also a video of their current rule set, which is still in play testing, being played out and discussed at Adepticon.

Palladium Books Robotech RPG Tactics

Anyways, I'll hopefully get more pictures up soon. I finished a Maxmini Greater Plaguebringer that I finished painting, some Salamanders I am building for a 1000 point Zone Mortalis army, and even some German Tanks for a Late War Flames of War army I am putting together! Those pictures will be up just as soon as I stop being lazy, haha.

Thanks again for everything you guys have done for me. It really does mean a lot to have support of random people, and not just overly encouraging friends and family!

So if you have been a long time reader here, I have made it no small secret that I love this companies products. Mr Justin does an AMAZING job with everything he and his company put their hands on, so when their Kickstarter went live, I knew I was going to be broke. If you're looking for a higher quality and better priced board than what GW puts out, look no further! Enough talking from me though, here is a link:

OMG! A LINK!

Yeah, so it's been a very long while since I have posted anything, but don't despair! I have actually been working on quite a few things since we all have last spoke. Check below the bump for more info on all of that.

So like I was saying, I have been up to a lot. I have working like a madman at my new store, and I am pleased to say that I have created a fun environment, as well as managing a job that lets me paint during the day! I have been expanding on my Death Guard army, as well as a whole slew of Nurgle daemons for it as well. Haven't had too much of a chance to finish up any models for that though, since my ADHD stops me every few steps, haha. I did manage to knock out this model though, which is for my all Forge World 30k Emperors Children army I have been putting together. One of my coworkers and I are working on 4000 point lists, which should be epic. I have most of my army now, but at the FW prices I can only get so much every month. Anyways, check out some more angels on this thing.

This is mounted on a 60mm Secret Weapon Miniatures Trench Works base, which is INCREDIBLE if you haven't seen them. Pretty solid sculpt that let me pose this beast in a very fun way. I also used their Amethyst Wash for this, as well as some of their weathering powders to dirty up this beasty.

I have also painted a Forge World Angron, which is an amazing model to work with. It is very finely sculpted, which makes painting all of the detail super easy. It's currently sitting in a display case at my store, so I'll have to take my camera in and snap some photos of it next week.

In other news, I may be bringing in some local painters to help me with my blog, so stay tuned for more info on that. It's time for me to watch a movie with the wifey though, so thanks for catching up with me, and stay classy folks!

So I haven't posted in a good while. I have made a little bit of progress on multiple projects, but my biggest project has been a big. I got hired by my FLGS to open up their second location. With only slightly less than a month to do it. And with no real distributors lined up. It's been rough. It has also been unbelievably rewarding. I've been doing so much work that my insomnia hasn't been an issue in like two weeks now, and I'm making very good money from the LLC that owns it.

The new store is called Mandatory Fun. For any of you military folk out there, that phrase has a very special meaning, haha. For those of you without exposure to the suck that is mandatory fun, it's a term used to describe a horribly planned unit event, that is supposedly fun but never is, and you better go or else you're screwed. If you're asking yourself, "Why would they name a store after that?", it's because it's a military themed store. It's not even a true game store. We carry military themed apparel, books, hold workshops for Veterans who want to learn how to write, get published, etc, and while we do carry board games, card games, and tabletop minis, they are all military based games.

While this is fairly far away from my big focus on 40k at the moment, it allows me to paint my own Dust stuff, create a league, and get paid in the process. It works out rather nicely in fact. As a Veteran myself, I also really do get pleasure out of working with soldiers and Veterans as well.

Anyways, the store opens tomorrow, so once it gets a regular battle rhythm going, I'll be painting and posting more. Until then though, have a wonderful new year, and may the dice gods be ever in your favor!

So yes, I am finally adding more pictures. However, these were taken with my iPhone, so they aren't necessarily the best quality. They will certainly do for the time being, however. So this is the knee pad of the Chaos Reaver Titan I am working on. For more pictures, check below!!!

Here are all the parts that I have managed to get some work in on so far. There was a lot of time not spent on painting due to family coming down for Thanksgiving, me getting a job, etc. But it is coming along nicely in my opinion.

Here is a closer look at the side of the legs. I used two different metallics on the legs, which I think draws more attention to the different parts of it, where as only a few shades of silver would make it all blend. I think it pops nicely this way.

Here is gun arm #1. Obviously I need to finish the Chaos symbol on the side, but it's essentially done other than that.

And here is gun #2. See comments on gun #1.

This is a second Blight Drone I am doing on commission. The rust is out of focus, but I was trying to get the skin, so it's all good.

Here is a front view of said Blight Drone. It is a sexy beast in my opinion.

Here is my Death Guard Warpsmith. I haven't touched it in a while, and I want to make some minor changes to it like going over the gold trim that you can't even tell exists in these picture, and touching up the rusting on the arms so it looks like multiple colors instead of a brownish orange. Things like that.

And finally another shot of the same model. Seriously though, I can't even make out the worn gold trim. It needs work...

So yeah, there we have some pictures and an update, all thanks to my new iPhone :D Yay me for finally embracing the digital age and getting a smart phone, haha. I'll post more works in progress as they come, and feel free to leave any constructive criticism you all may have! I am now off to watch MiB 3 with the wifey!!!
